Josh Pierry Named 2011 Chamber Person of the Year

Pierry Interactive founder Josh Pierry was recognized at the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce’s 114th Annual Dinner last night as the Chamber’s Person of the Year. Chairman of the Board, Ben Paul, Partner in Cassidy Turley, surprised Pierry as he was announced as the 2011 Chamber Person of the Year at the event held at the Hotel Sofitel. Pierry becomes the 40th member of the Chamber so honored since 1970.

The Chamber’s Person of the Year Award recipient is selected by the Chairman of the Board and upon making the presentation Paul said, “In most cases it takes a lot of years to make an impact on the Chamber and its Chairman of the Board – but this year that is not the case” as he named the young entrepreneur as his Person of the Year.

Upon calling him to the podium Paul talked about Pierry. Josh is serving his second year on the Chamber Board of Directors. He is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San Carlos and now presents during Economics and Business day. In subsequent years he sponsored three of his employees who also graduated from the program. He serves on the Invitational Golf Tournament Committee. After putting an excellent panel together in 2010 on Social Networking and its Impact on Business and the Community for the Progress Seminar, he now serves on that Planning Committee.

For the last two years Josh has helped plan and present at the Chamber’s Board Retreats on Social Media and website development. He has been an extraordinary support to keep our Chamber current in all ways technical launching an entire communications program. Our Chamber website was designed with Pierry Interactive and he and his staff do the website updates.

In making this selection Paul said the Chamber is so fortunate to have Josh sharing his time and expertise with the Chamber. As we continually try to engage and make the Chamber relevant to young business entrepreneurs like Josh –he was a great example as he saw the value of getting involved in the Chamber, becoming part of the community and giving back.

Pierry also accepted proclamations, resolutions, certificates and compliments from California State Assembly Members Rich Gordon and Jerry Hill, San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom and Redwood City Council Member Rosanne Foust.

About the Person of the Year Award

In 1970 the chamber's highest award was created. Sometimes called the chairman’s award, its purpose is to recognize those  who more than anyone  made the greatest impact on the success of a president's year.  key considerations in determining the recipient are;

• Accomplishments in many phases of the chamber's program
    
• Commitment and dedication to the success of their assignment
