Chamber Board Action
At the September Board of Directors meeting the Chamber Board
voted to support the following.
AB 438 (Parra):The bill would permit rental housing providers
to use the Megan’s Law database to protect residents
from high risk sex offenders. It would:
- Clarify that rental housing providers can use the Megan’s
Law database to act decisively in the interests and safety
of other tenants.
- Clarify that rental housing providers may, but are not required
to use the database to decide whether or not to refuse to
house registered sex offenders, regain possession of rental
units from dangerous sex offenders, or warn other tenants
about registered sex offenders.
- Clarify that Megan’s Law does not make a sexual registrant
part of a “Protected Class”.
- Develop a mechanism to trigger and mandate the propmt correction
of inaccurate home address information on the Web site.
Measure A: Authorizes San Mateo County Community College
District to issue bonds in an amount not to exceed $468 million
to perform projects to repair, renovate, upgrade and construct
college facilities, as specified in the Bond Project List.
This measure passes if 55% of those voting on the measure
