Message from the Chairman of the Board, Cheryl Angeles
I am honored and privileged to serve as your Chairman of the Board in 2007. Barry Jolette has done a fantastic job this past year! He’ll be a tough act to follow, but I’m confident the Chamber’s goals can be accomplished
with your help!
I'm surrounded by a group of outstanding Vice Chairs. Jeff Gee, Swinerton Management and Consulting, Vice Chairman, Economic Development, Glenna Vaskelis, Sequoia Hospital, Vice Chairman, Community Development, Jim Hartnett, Hartnett, Smith & Associates, Vice Chairman, Governmental Relations, and Memo Morantes, Morantes Financial and Insurance Services, Vice Chairman, Membership Services and Funding. Rosanne Foust, Alsace International will serve as Deputy Chairman, and Larry Aikins, Terrace Associates is returning as our Chief Financial Officer and Barry Jolette, San Mateo Credit Union as Past Chairman of the Board.
Mark your calendars for some important events! The Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet is on January 25, 2007 at the Hotel Sofitel. Our famous membership drive is scheduled for March 12th through March 15th. Start thinking about your prospects now! If each Chamber member signed one new member, we would double in size! The very popular Progress Seminar is scheduled for April 13th through April 15th at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey. If you have never attended this event and want to network with community, civic and government leaders, you should not miss this event! It has sold out the past several years so sign up now. Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament will be held on May 14th and the Invitational Golf Tournament is scheduled for October 1st. Attend the monthly membership mixers where you can network and mingle. Redwood City Saltworks will host us on January 17th and Spa Luxe hosts us on February 21st and March 15th is the finale for the membership drive!
Also in looking ahead, at our Chamber Planning Retreat in Mid-December we outlined two critical areas that the Chamber will be working on in 2007. The Chamber’s Transportation and Housing Committee will be focusing its program on the many housing projects that will be coming
before the City, ie: Peninsula Park and the Downtown Precise Plan and the 2nd will be the Economic Development Committee which will be spending most of its time on developing strategies geared to the implementation of the Economic Development Element.
With your help and support we can make 2007 another year of growth and progress. Please sign up for a committee and get involved so we can continue to make Redwood City and San Mateo County a great place to live and work!
Cheryl Angeles
Chairman
