I'm going to try to shop with everyone this year so you may be hearing from me!

The 2007 Community Guide and Membership Directory will be printed soon with all our new members in it. It's very important to make a conscience effort to refer your fellow Chamber members and Shop Chamber!

How is your Chamber working for you? Jim Bigelow, Chamber Transportation Consultant, advocated on the Chamber's behalf. Jim went to Sacramento and helped to save our funding for Prop. 1B. San Mateo County will benefit greatly because of Jim's efforts.

Our membership drive brought in 96 new members so we did not meet our goal of 140. The drive continues! Please keep your ears and eyes open and bring in businesses with whom you would like to network and shop. Drive results are as follows: 39 people signed new members and 21 of 40 Board members worked and signed members. The Corporate Winners were United American Bank and Saf Keep Storage. Top producers were John Schrup, Leila Perreras, Frank Bartaldo, Rosanne Foust and me! Thank you to all that participated in the drive. I really appreciate your help! Grace Shem from Provident Credit Union was our Rookie of the Year! Congratulations Grace!

The 38th Annual Progress Seminar was held on April 13th, 14th, and 15th. The Seminar was sold out and had a waiting list so mark your calendars for next year! The event will be held on April 11 through April 13, 2008. Rose Jacobs Gibson started off the morning with a speech on the state of our county. Herb Schultz, Senior Health Policy Advisor for the Office of the Governor discussed Governor Schwarzenegger's plans for California healthcare. Breakout sessions included New California Network, Eco-Friendly Practices For Business and Government, Criminal Justice In California, Healthcare, Economic Development Best Practices and Transportation. Steve Poizner, California State Insurance Commissioner gave the keynote address and discussed "How Can California Business Manage Insurance Costs". At the closing General Session on Sunday, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Congressman Sam Farr ended the Progress Seminar in a casual setting. You won't want to miss the Progress Seminar ReMixed on June 22, 2007 at the Oracle Conference Center. Hope to see you there so we can continue making Progress!
