Chamber Retains Title As Third Largest In Bay Area
REDWOOD CITY, CA - January 6, 2004 The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce has been named
by the San Francisco Business Times in their December 26, 2003 issue as the
3rd largest in the Bay Area for the second year in a row. The Chamber was
ranked 3rd preceding Redwood City were San Francisco and Oakland.
The Chamber's reputation as a leader in the business community is well
known. In its role as an advocate for business the Chamber conducts its
flagship event the Annual Progress Seminar. It is held each spring and
attracts over 350 business and government leaders from the entire region.
This seminar has been an excellent vehicle for developing better working
relationships and understanding not only between business and government,
but government and government. Also, the Chamber holds its annual Wells
Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament in May. Over its l6 year history it has
donated over $350,000 to Kainos Home and Training Center for Developmentally
Disabled Adults. This is extraordinary to have a non-profit budgeting for
that kind of contribution each year.
For 17 years the Chamber's successful Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San
Carlos Program has graduated over 450. Many graduates of Leadership have
gone on to take on vital leadership roles throughout the city, county, state
and even the nation.
Chairman of the Board, John Adams said, "The activities of our chamber are
designed to give the business community a voice in making our community a
better place to live and work. The Chamber is an effective organization
due to the hardworking people involved. As Henry Ford said, 'Coming
together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together
is success'."
