If you could discuss matters of importance with influential civic and
Community Leaders in a comfortable, open setting... Would you Do it ?

If you could learn leadership skills and gain valuable information and
Resources to aid you in your work... Would you Do it ?

If you could create a positive presence and identify yourself and
your organization as a partner with your community... Would you Do it ?

Of course you would !

Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San Carlos can help you or someone within your organization accomplish these goals. Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San Carlos, a nine-month leadership development program, offered by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, provides participants the opportunity for face-to-face meetings and hands-on workshops with experts and key decision-makers from business, government, our health care and educational systems, and the community.

In sessions held one full day per month, September through June participants learn about issues of vital concern to their city, and learn how to effectively shape the future of their community, their organization, or their business.

You Are A Candidate for LEADERSHIP REDWOOD CITY/BELMONT/SAN CARLOS

Program Goals:

  • Identify and motivate potential leaders;
  • Acquaint potential leaders with community needs and challenges;
  • Introduce participants to notable leaders within their communities; and
  • Challenge program participants to become involved in their communities.

Participants will gain a broader understanding of their community and how it functions, as they are introduced to influential community leaders.

  • They will learn leadership skills and acquire valuable information and access to resources which will aid them in their work.
  • They will build relationships with business and community leaders that would otherwise take years to develop.
  • They will create a positive presence and identify themselves and their business or organization as partners in the community.

Full-day workshops focus on topics vital to our community’s future such as Business and Economics, City and County Government, Planning, Housing and Transportation, Education, Health Care, Community Services, and Law Enforcement. A retreat early in the program emphasizes leadership and team building skill development, along with interactive exercises.

The focus of each session is not on specific political viewpoints or particular methods of dealing with community issues; rather, a number of alternative views are presented from experts in the given areas.

Enrollment in the Leadership Program is limited to forty individuals each year. Application forms are now available at the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce and should be completed and submitted no later than the first Monday in August. For more information contact the Chamber at (650) 364-1722.

The tuition for the program, which will begin in September, is $1000.
