Chamber Named 3rd Largest In The Bay Area
REDWOOD CITY, CA - January 05, 2003 The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce has been named
by the San Francisco Business Times in their December 27, 2002 issue as the
3rd largest in the Bay Area. The Chamber was ranked 3rd preceding Redwood
City were San Francisco and Oakland.
The Chamber's strong program is well known throughout the Bay Area. Its
flagship event, the Annual Progress Seminar, is held each spring in Monterey
and attracts over 350 Business and government leaders from the entire
region. This seminar has been an excellent vehicle for developing better
working relationships and understanding not only between business and
government, but government and government. Also, the Chamber holds its
annual Wells Fargo/Tom Rathman Benefit Golf Tournament in May. Over its l5
year history it has donated over $300,000 to Kainos Home and Training Center
for Mentally Disabled Adults. This is extraordinary to have a non profit
budgeting for that kind of contribution each year.
For 16 years the Chamber's successful Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San
Carlos Program has graduated over 400. Many graduates of Leadership have
gone on to take on vital leadership roles throughout the city, county, state
and even the nation.
Chairman of the Board, Rosanne Foust said "Our Chamber is only able to
present such an effective program because of the dedication and commitment
of our Board of Directors and hundreds of member volunteers." Foust also
said "We are very fortunate to have a great group of people involved who
really care about their community and are willing to contribute their time
to create a strong business environment through the roles they accept in the
Chamber."
