Vice President, Education Group, Northern California for Swinerton Management & Consulting Jeffery S. Gee was named
the Chamber’s Person of the Year by outgoing Chamber Chairman of the Board Barry Jolette. The presentation was made
last night at the Chamber’s 109th Annual Dinner, January 25, 2007 at the Hotel Sofitel.
This award, called the Chairman of the Board’s Award, is the Chamber’s highest. Created in 1970, its purpose is to recognize
the one person who more than anyone else made the greatest impact on the success of the Chairman’s year.
Gee has served on the Chamber Board of Directors for 5 years. Recognizing Gee’s abilities he quickly was named to the
Chamber Executive Committee as Vice Chairman for the Business-Government Relations Department. The following year
he was asked to take on an important assignment as the Chairman of the Economic Development Department. In this
capacity Gee also chaired the Economic Development Strategy Task Force and was instrumental, over a 10 month period,
in putting together the Economic Development Assessment and developing the Economic Development Strategies for Redwood City.
This involved countless hours and was successfully presented to the City Council at the end of last year. Gee is a graduate of
Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San Carlos in the class of 2004 and now serves Redwood City as a member of the
Planning Commission and as Executive Director of the Redwood Shores Community Association.
