Chamber Named Third Largest In Bay Area
The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce has been named by the San Francisco Business Times in their December 16, 2005 issue as the third largest Chamber in the Bay Area for the fourth year in a row.
The Chamber's reputation as a leader in the business community is well known. In its role as an advocate for business the Chamber conducts its flagship event the Annual Progress Seminar held each spring and attracts over 400 business and government leaders from the entire region. This Seminar has been an excellent vehicle for developing better working relationships not only between business and government, but government and government. The Chamber holds its annual Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament in May. Over its l8 year history it has donated over $415,000 to Kainos Home and Training Center for Developmentally Disabled Adults. For 19 years the Chamber's successful Leadership Redwood City/Belmont/San Carlos Program has graduated over 500. Many graduates of Leadership have gone on to take on vital leadership roles throughout the city, county, state and even the nation. Like any successful business enterprise, the Chamber also continues to grow by introducing new programs such as the Progress Seminar ReMixed and the Economic Forecast.
Chamber Chairman of the Board, Barry Jolette, CEO, San Mateo Credit Union, said, "that we continue to improve the quality of life and business opportunities for all of Redwood City and San Mateo County. The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce ranks 3rd behind San Francisco and Oakland because of the commitment of our Members to participate and work together toward making San Mateo County a better place to live and work".
