Chamber Board Shows Support
Peninsula Park
The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber Board of Directors voted to give
its support to the proposed Peninsula Park Project. Peninsula Park, is 33 acres located on Bair Island Road. The concept includes a community park along Bair Island Road and 2 overlook parks along Redwood Creek, a 200 room hotel, 10,000 square feet of community serving retail, 796 townhomes and condominiums, and approximately 4 acres of marina and canals. There will be public access to the waterfront using pedestrian and bicycle esplanades along Redwood Creek and the marina.
A pedestrian undercrossing will connect Peninsula Park to the downtown area.
Shuttle service will provide residents in the area with connections to CalTrain, Kaiser, and downtown Redwood City.
Peninsula Park's 33 acres will have buildings ranging from 24 ft. to 75 ft on 92% of the site. The remaining 8% of the site shall have no building that exceeds 120 ft.
Precise Plan
The Chamber Board also voted to support the Redwood City Downtown Precise Plan which the City of Redwood City is considering to adopt. The Precise Plan is intended to establish a contemporary vision and set forth the specific land use parameters, development standards, and urban design criteria necessary to facilitate and guide successful development within the City downtown core over the next 10-20 years.
