PLANNING COMMITTEE FOR PROGRESS SEMINAR HITS A HOME RUN, SESSION SPEAKERS TOP NOTCH
Under the Leadership of Progress Seminar Co-Chairs San Mateo County
Supervisor Rich Gordon, Redwood City Mayor Rosanne Foust and President of
the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Adrienne Tissier the event has
again attracted over 300 business and government leaders to hear what is the
most exciting program ever.
Sharing the dais at Saturday’s Opening General Session with President of the
Board of Supervisors, Adrienne Tissier for her "State of the County" is Will
Travis, Executive Director, San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development
Commission with his presentation "Global Climate Change and Housing".
Following the morning breakouts the 2nd General Session "The Future of
Silicon Valley in a Global Economy" will be moderated by the well known
President of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Carl Guardino as he
interviews two top CEO's. Being interviewed will be William D. Watkins of
Seagate Technology and Thomas H. Werner, SunPower Corporation. Seagate
Technology delivers advanced digital storage solutions to meet the needs of
today’s consumers and tomorrow’s applications. SunPower designs,
manufactures and delivers the highest efficiency solar electric technology
worldwide.
At the Closing General Session Sunday morning an entire group discussion
will take place with former San Francisco Mayor, Willie Brown. With his
new book just released Brown will certainly be commenting on "Basic Brown:
My Life and Our Times".
No less impressive the six breakout topics and panelists are truly timely
and relevant. Water Management in a Changing Climate features Barry Nelson,
Senior Policy Analyst, Natural Resources Defense Council, Eric Robinson,
Shareholder, Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard and California State
Senator Joe Simitian; Public Private Partnerships brings together Curt
Augustine, Deputy Legislative Secretary, Office of Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger, Stephen Beatty, Managing Director, Global Infrastructure and
Projects Group, North America, KPMG, Alistair Sawers, Director & Head of
Western Group, Royal Bank of Canada Infrastructure & Project Finance; The
Challenges of Finding and Retaining a Quality Bay Area Workforce will be
discussed with Susan Cort, Director of Human Resources, Applications

Human Resources, San Mateo County; Real Estate Implications for San Mateo
