Progress Seminar ReMixed Attracts Well Known Keynote
Headlining the Chamber's Progress Seminar ReMixed on Thursday, June 19 at the Oracle Conference Center is Larry Gerston, Ph. D. who is a Political Science Professor at San Jose State University and also well known as a political analyst at NBC 11 and KCBS Radio. He has also appeared on NBC Nightly News, BBC, NPR, and CNN¹s Inside Politics.
Gerston's topic "The California State Budget: Can This State Be Saved?" could not be more timely or important as state budget cuts being considered will impact everyone as the state grapples with untangling the budget mess.
A successful author, Gerston's "Public Policy Making in a Democratic Society: A Guide to Civic Engagement" was heralded as a breakthrough in promoting "hands on" citizen participation. His "Recall" California's Political Earthquake (with Terry Christensen), was selected as "outstanding book of 2004" by the American Library Association. In American Federalism: A Concise Introduction (2007), his tenth book, he demystifies the complex relationships among the various levels of government.
In the real world, Larry Gerston has extensive expertise in media training, message development, presentation skills, focus group facilitation, crisis communications, speech writing, and strategic thinking.
The Chamber's Progress Seminar ReMixed takes place each June as a follow-up to the heralded Progress Seminar. It traditionally continues the conversation about those topics which warranted the most interest at the Progress Seminar. This year sharing the program with Gerston is a panel on "Going Beyond GREEN, Fostering Sustainable Communities" and "More People, Less Water: How Do We Make It Work?"
The event is from 7:45am-Noon on June 19 with the cost to attend $55.
