A Message From Chairman Of The Board, Barry Jolette
Barry Jolette

REDWOOD CITY, CA - June 2, 2006 Your Chamber of Commerce has once again been very busy in our community. The Annual Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament was held May 8 at Stanford Golf Course. As usual, a great time was had by all of our participants from golf, to dinner, to the auction to raise funds. And from a financial perspective, it was our most successful tournament yet as it resulted in a
contribution for Kainos in the amount of $34,000! Thanks to our many
sponsors and golfers.

And then on Friday, June 2 at the Sequoia Club we held graduation ceremonies for the 37 graduates of the 18th Chamber¹s Leadership program. Rich Gordon from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, a graduate of the program and a member of our Hall of Fame, did his usual terrific job addressing the class on his five points of leadership.

This nine-month leadership development program is offered by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce and provides participants the opportunity for face-to-face meetings and hands-on workshops with experts and key decision makers. In dynamic sessions held one day per month,
September through May, participants learn about issues of vital concern to their city; and learn how they can work effectively to shape the future of their community, their organization or their business. Participants gain a broader understanding of their community and how it functions, as they are
introduced to influential community leaders. If you are interested in being a participant in the next class, just call the Chamber at 364-1722 and sign up now.

On Friday, June 16, community leaders gathered at the Oracle Conference Center for our 2nd Annual Progress Seminar Remixed. We were treated to an informative panel on the California Infrastructure bonds we will have the opportunity to vote on in November. Sean Randolph from the Bay Area
Economic Forum gave us his insight into our Bay Area economy with some generally encouraging perspective. And our panel of political experts closed the morning with their differing views from the Democratic and Republican perspectives. Next on our busy agenda is "Good Morning Redwood City" at the Sequoia Club at 7:45am on July 26. Hope to see many of you there!
