Comcast Cares
REDWOOD CITY, CA - October 29, 2003 212 San Mateo County Comcast employees and their families participated in 3 volunteer projects as a part of the largest one-day volunteer effort in
the company's history - the third annual nation-wide Comcast Cares Day held on
Saturday, October 4, 2003. Local Comcast volunteers donated a total of
1,700 hours or more than 70 days of service in just one day.
At the three school sites chosen for Comcast Cares Days; Fair Oaks
Elementary, Cesar Chavez Academy and Green Oaks Academy, volunteers
tackled a variety of projects which included:
- adding bark to 11, 250 square feet of playground area,
- landscaping 5,000 square feet of school property including the
addition of 14 tons of crushed granite for new walkways,
- laying 29 cases of carpet tiles,
- installing 221 coat rack hooks
- using over 30 gallons of paint in classrooms and offices, and
- installing over 150 flowers, plants and hedges.
Comcast and its employees are truly committed to the communities
they serve, not only through their annual event, but year-round.
