Mary Huss named Athena Award Recipient co-sponsored by Bay Area Bank
Mary Huss has been named the Athena Business Woman of the Year by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce. One of the Chamber's highest honors the award is co-sponsored by Bay Area Bank. The Athena Award recognizes recipients for their demonstrated professional excellence, as well as their leadership role in community service and their assistance to other women in
reaching their career goals. Long ago Bay Area Bank recognized the importance of the contributions made by women in the community and through their 16 year sponsorship of the Athena Award found a way to play a key role in honoring them.
Huss is Publisher of the San Francisco Business Times. With an employment history in publishing she always left her mark by building circulation, advertising and the stature of newspapers from St. Louis, to Philadelphia and now San Francisco. Coming to San Francisco in the early 90's, she and her team turned the newspaper around and as she has always done the San Francisco Buisness Times has
become one of the top newspapers in her company. Under Mary's leadership the Business Times has been recognized as one of the "Top 100 Women Owned Businesses".
Being successful in a career that is predominantly male, Mary serves as an excellent role model for women and has worked to mentor young women in particular through the Girl Scouts of the San Francisco Bay Area where she was instrumental in bringing about Camp CEO where young, underprivileged women can attend and be introduced to the world of women CEO's. Mary has been a member of the chamber since 1993 and serves on the Chamber's Progress Seminar Planning Committee.

The Athena will be presented to Mary at the Chamber's Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner on Thursday evening, January 26, 2006 at the Hotel Sofitel.
