Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament Raises $38,200 For Kainos Home and Training Center

Wells Fargo Check Presentation - Click to EnlargeA $38,200 check was presented at the October Board of Directors meeting to Kainos Home & Training Center. The proceeds come as a result of the success of the Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament held on May 10, which is sponsored by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce.

For over two decades proceeds from the Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament have presented over a half million dollars to the Kainos Home and Training Center for Adults with Developmental Disabilities.

The Wells Fargo Benefit Golf Tournament is “The Heart of the Chamber” it is very unusual for one non profit to continually contribute these kind of funds to another non profit.

The brainchild of the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, Chamber President & CEO, Larry Buckmaster said, “It began 20+ years ago as the Chamber was increasingly asked to contribute to this cause or that cause. At that time the leadership of the Chamber decided they wanted to be able to make a larger impact on one organization. It works because of the involvement of Wells Fargo and of the excellent working partnership that the chamber enjoys with Kainos.” He said, the outstanding Tournament Committee, co-chaired by Steve Smith of Wells Fargo Bank and Gino Gasparini of Norcal Waste Systems of San Mateo County, is made up of representatives and staff of both organizations working together to present one of the most popular and premiere golf tournaments on the Peninsula.

Andy Frisch, Kainos Executive Director, said “that the contribution from this event means so much to Kainos. We are able to continue our work in helping our clients become contributing and participating members of the community.” Frisch said “this donation is the largest one-time contribution that Kainos receives each year.

Many Thanks to all the Chamber Members for their support of this event. And a huge thank you to our Title Sponsor Wells Fargo for whom this tournament would not be possible. Their commitment to Kainos and other local community non-profits is unprecedented and instrumental in building healthy communities throughout San Mateo County.
